Job Description

Purpose

The position is responsible for teaching and learning, research and community engagement and to provide support to the department/faculty in pursuit of its academic objectives. Responsibilities may also include curriculum development, student academic development, administration, quality assurance, academic management and the development of research capacity within the department/faculty to contribute to the academic initiatives undertaken by the department/faculty. 

Minimum Requirements

Lecturer
  •  Master’s degree in mathematics
  •  Area of expertise must be Topology and/or Set Theory.
  •  At least two (2) years relevant experience
  •  Track record in teaching,
  •  Evidence of post graduate supervision
  •  Evidence of research activity,
  •  Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite)

Senior Lecturer
  •  PhD/Doctorate degree in Mathematics
  •  Area of expertise must be Topology and/or Set Theory.
  •  At least five (5) years teaching experience
  •  Proven track record in teaching, research (including publications in accredited journals) and community   engagement
  •  Proven track record of supervising postgraduate students at master’s and/or Doctoral level
  •  Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite)

Recommended Requirements

Lecturer:
  • PhD or progress towards PhD completion
  • Successful supervision of postgraduate students.
  • Publication in DHET Journal

Senior Lecturer:
  • NRF rating or demonstrate the potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
